Online Jobs for Physicians

Dr. Lev Grinman, Founder

Dr. Lev Grinman is board certified in neurology and sleep medicine with a subspecialty focus in intraoperative monitoring. Dr. Grinman lives in New York with his wife and 3 children.

There are several online job types available to physicians today. With technology improvements and patient adoption, it is much easier for a physician to work from home than even just a few years ago. Remote jobs for doctors, including telemedicine, offer opportunities such as additional income, flexibility, and improved work life balance.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine allows physicians to expand patient care, often at lower cost and greater patient engagement. Patients can schedule a consultation without having to wait for an appointment and see their doctors without having to leave home. Telemedicine, first implemented in rudimentary form in the 1950’s, has grown exponentially in recent years. It has seen even bigger growth and demand since Covid-19.

Utilization Review for Physicians

Another type of work-at-home job that is mainly online is utilization review. In this role, the physician’s responsibilities focus primarily on chart review and deciding whether procedures, medications, or hospital stays are eligible for insurance coverage. This job is a good fit for board-certified physicians with an active medical license who want to minimize patient care or are semi-retired.

Contractor Research organizations (CROs)

Contract research organizations (CROs) are companies that independently conduct clinical drug trials. CROs often hire doctors as medical directors or principal investigators who guide research and development. It is a research-heavy job and can be remote. If you enjoy the science behind treatment, interpreting clinical data, and contributing to development of new therapies, then clinical trial work may be for you. Doctors for Providers specializes in sourcing physicians to be principal investigators for decentralized clinical trials.

Collaborating Physician or Medical Director

Being a collaborating physician or medical director is another option for physicians who want to do more work online. Advanced practice providers such as NPs and PAs need collaborating physicians in most parts of the country to either see patients in person or via telemedicine and to get prescriptive authority. Medical spas also need medical directors when they perform certain procedures. Outside of a contract with the providers, there is often a need for chart reviews which is performed online. Doctors for Providers specialize in matching physicians with providers to be collaborating physicians and medical directors.

Online jobs for physicians can be ideal for anyone who is seeking alternatives to working in the office or hospital setting every day. With medical training and experience, many unique practice options are found online.
