Common Questions
A collaborating physician provides oversight of an advanced practice provider within state laws, including prescriptive authority, without ownership of all or part of the practice. As a collaborative physician, you oversee the care provided by the nurse practitioners (NP) or physician’s assistant (PA) at a healthcare facility.
A medical director has several responsibilities, which may include:
- Developing and implementing clinical protocols and policies.
- Overseeing the compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Managing the performance of the medical staff.
CPOM medical directors may also own the professional entity in states with CPOM doctrines.

Part-Time Physician Collaborations are a new service designed to foster collaboration between physicians and advanced practice providers (NPs and PAs).
NPs and PAs working an average of less than 20 hours per week can collaborate with physicians on a part-time basis. Our Part-Time Physician Collaborations offer flexibility, allowing NPs and PAs to maintain flexibility while pursuing entrepreneurial goals.
NPs and PAs participating in our collaborations have the opportunity to take on more responsibility, gain valuable experience, and even build their own patient panels.

There are three types of discounts that providers can be eligible for. First, we have a seasonal Promotional Discount that runs at different times throughout the year, which can save you $500 in your first year of service with us. Discounts under this program are applied to monthly fees, at 90 days ($100 off), 180 days ($150 off), and 365 days ($250 off), for a total savings of $500.
Also, we have a Client Loyalty Program which saves you $300 per year, and that begins in year two of your collaboration.
Finally, we are pleased to extend a Client Referral Program to existing clients, which would save providers a total of $500 when they refer a new client to Doctors For Providers. The new client must be enrolled in a current, paid collaboration for the referral bonus to be paid out in full. Providers are welcome to refer more than one new client to DFP to save even more!
No. We pride ourselves on matching providers to collaborating physicians and medical directors with no physician search fees. Our account coordinators will explain the differences in programs between collaborating physicians and CPOM medical directors.
Collaborations are priced based on several factors including physician specialty, medications prescribed, your practice type and location. Your assigned account coordinator will provide you with a customized quote. Also, if your state requires a percentage of physician ownership due to corporate practice of medicine laws, then your account coordinator will explain your options and the costs involved.
